Getting bigger at 26 weeks!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Zane and I are 26 weeks pregnant! I can't believe how far we still have to go! I think I feel like we are finally getting somewhere when I hit 30 weeks. After 30 weeks it seems like anything could happen and you need to be ready at all times. I know I write about this EVERY single blog post, but my weight gain really fascinates me and horrifies me at the same time. I can't keep gaining weight like I have been or I'll be quite uncomfortable. There is no question now about if I am pregnant. My patients don't even hesitate before saying "You're pregnant! Congratulations!". They are quite brave since assuming someone that is NOT pregnant IS pregnant is quite a horrible mistake to make! I am starting to get strange symptoms like low back pain and indigestion, and it is hard to get comfortable when I am sitting.

Here is my belly photo for 26 weeks!

We had another midwife appointment this last week, and everything is still sounding good. He kicks all the time too! We can see him moving around now which is cool but kind of strange.

To prepare for his arrival I have been reading a great gift from my friend Courtney-- Mayo Clinic Guide to Your Baby's First Year. I never would have thought that bathing a newborn could be so scary and complicated. I REALLY like the book and enjoy reading it every night. It makes me more excited and petrified which I think is probably a good thing.

I am off to book club now. Half of us ladies in book club are pregnant! It is really fun. I also found out the other day that another one of my best friends from high school is also pregnant (probably many of you know who she is, but it is not my place to spill her beans, so I am not going to drop any names yet even though I don't think it is a secret anymore)! I am so excited because this means our kids can hang out and be friends while we are hanging out. They may even be in the same grade!

I have my baby shower coming up this Saturday in Durango! I am very excited. I will post more about that with pictures next week.

Love,
Sara, Zane, Kaylor, and Sophie dog.

23 and 24 weeks

Good morning!

Many of you may not know that Zane gets up at 5:00 am for work every day! It works out pretty well when I wake up at 4:30 am for no reason and can't go back to sleep. I am pretty sure my body is just trying to give me some practice at waking up in the wee hours of the morning.

We are 24 weeks along as of yesterday. He is apparently a foot long now, and he continues to practice his soccer kicks and karate chops. I have pictures from last week and a recent one from 5:15 am today. Zane looked less than thrilled to be taking pictures of his pregnant wife while he was trying to make his breakfast this morning. Especially since I always make him take 10 (at least) before I am happy with one.

I was in Durango when we hit 23 weeks last Saturday. I was lucky enough to be able to attend one of my oldest and best friend's baby shower. It was zoo/ animal themed and very cute. She along with her family and my other great high school friends also threw me a surprise baby shower! We are scattered all over between Minnesota to Alaska to Georgia, and we unfortunately can't get together that often. It was a very sweet thing to do, and it was so fun hanging out with them and celebrating 2 pregnancies! Thank you Courtney, Blake, Jessica, Emily, and Ali (we missed you!).

My high school buddies
Emily and Courtney (aka cutest pregnant person ever).

23 Weeks
I also took my 23 week picture with my mom back in Durango. My parents are in Salt Lake City with me right now, and we have very much enjoyed seeing so much family in the last few days. I included some pictures of them as well. I am so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. Kaylor is hitting the jackpot as far as family is concerned.
Aunt Kathy, Aunt Lorrie, Ken, Julie, my beautiful Mom.

Kaylor's presents have started to arrive and it is overwhelming! Thank you to my Aunt Claire who sent this cute playmat. Where are we going to put all of Kaylor's things? Thank you so much for the baby gifts! I am very behind on thank you notes, but will work on getting them out soon.

Kaylor is growing!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Zane and I are just hanging out tonight watching Duck Dynasty (I had to finally agree with Zane that it is quite funny).  I thought I would write a pregnancy update with some photos since little Kaylor is growing and kicking! I definitely don't have days where I don't feel pregnant any more. According to babycenter.com the baby is as large as a spaghetti squash this week. He also kicks so hard that we can see him moving around in my belly! It is a strange feeling.
We had a midwife apt last week. His heart beat sounds good at 140 beats per minute.

22 Weeks
I am definitely getting larger. At least I have a good reason. It would be a lot less fun if I was just documenting my weight gain without being pregnant. My hankering for jelly belly jellybeans has helped. I am waiting for it to look more like a baby bump and less like a beer belly.

We were able to get out on our cruiser bikes for the first time this winter. It felt good to be outside and on a bike. I think little Kaylor liked it too.

Love,
Sara, Zane, Sophie, and K.

It's a....

We are officially half way!

We hit 20 weeks on Saturday.  I have been slacking on taking pictures of my growing belly, but now that it is getting larger faster, I will have to try to be better about documenting my expanding waist line. I haven't officially moved into maternity clothes only, but they are comfortable! I am trying to find some cute things that don't make me look like I am wearing a tent.

I started feeling some little kicks and movements at around 18 weeks.. It might be my favorite part of pregnancy thus far. Zane has been able to feel it a few times too, but it's a tricky little bugger because every time I try to let Zane feel it, the little kicks seem to stop. I know I am not making it up though. On our recent ultra sound, we were able to see that it is a very active little baby.

According to babycenter.com at 20 weeks the baby is as long as a banana. Apparently at 20 weeks the baby can now hear us too! All the ultra sound measurements looked good. It seems things are progressing as they should.

Last week we had our gender revealing ultra sound, and it was quite evident that we are having a little boy- a little Mr. Kaylor Calvin Hallock! We actually had his name picked out before we were even pregnant, and I have to admit that I liked the boy name better than the girl name we had considered.

Kaylor is the name of my dad's dad and Calvin is the name of Zane's dad's dad. We will then have the option of calling him Kaylor or K.C.  Zane is going to be a great dad to a little boy. Our parents are very excited about having a little grandson too.

It has been so fun sharing all of our news with friends and family. I have been so lucky too since some of my wonderful girlfriends are either currently pregnant or have recently been pregnant, and it has been fun exchanging stories and experiences. I feel so lucky to be able to share this with my mom and mother-in-law as well. Kaylor is going to be one loved little boy, and Zane and I feel very fortunate.

17 weeks and the New Year

Happy New Year!

We are currently at 17 weeks as of yesterday. I will post a picture from 15 weeks and now. I am definitely beginning to show. My clothes are getting awfully tight. Luckily I have some great friends who have been pregnant before me that are sharing some of their favorite maternity clothes so I have something to wear until I break down and maybe go shopping. The belly band has worked well for me. For those of you that don't know, the belly band is just a stretchy piece of fabric you can wear around your waist that holds your pants up if you can't zip or button them anymore. I honestly don't know why everyone doesn't have a belly band. I could see them being handy for just after a large meal or during the holidays when we all pack on a few pounds.
Our next ultra-sound is scheduled for 1/30/14, and we will hopefully find out then if we are having a boy or girl. The closer it gets the more impatient I become. 3 weeks still feels very far away.
We haven't felt little kicks or movement yet.
It was so much fun telling our news to all of our friends and family over the holidays. We had to tell Zane's parents over Skype, but it was still a great way to connect with them. We told our parents and my brother and grandmother by getting them ornaments. My Dad's had a picture from the first US, my Mom's said "Great moms are promoted to Grandma", Bill and Mary Ann's said "Your going to be grandparents again", Patrick and Briana's just said "Uncle Patrick and Aunt Briana", and Shirley's said "Your going to be a Great Grandmother".
15 weeks
Second trimester really has been much nicer than the first. The nausea went away, and I have more energy. Some days I don't even feel pregnant. I have cut back a bit on my running, but I am still attending my xtend barre classes, and I am going to the gym. My friends who have gone through this before me warned me not to stop exercising, so I am trying to stick with it.

This is the first baby gift we have received. Our good friends Alyssa and Brendan White are expecting a baby any day. They gave us this adorable onsie when they heard our news. I have always found tiny baby clothes cute, but this was one more thing that really made this pregnancy feel real to us.

Below is my 17 week photo. I will start taking bump pictures more regularly now that I am starting to show.

12 weeks and Merry Christmas

Zane and I are at 12 weeks and a few days. I can see the end of the first trimester, and I am excited for the second to start to be honest. I can't complain too much because I haven't been "sick", but the nausea and other uncomfortable symptoms won't be missed if I am one of those lucky pregnant gals that starts feeling better in the second trimester. We are looking forward to telling our friends and family in just a few more days. It has been so hard keeping this a secret. It feels like it has been the longest 2 months. I am definitely gaining weight which I am not thrilled about, but I know it is a necessary part of this whole thing.
The pregnancy felt more real when we had our first US right after Thanksgiving. We found out then that we are about 2 weeks further along than we thought. I will try to upload the picture to the blog. Everything seems to be progressing well.  We won't find out if we are having a boy or a girl until the end of January.
I haven't had any strange food cravings really. I do love cottage cheese-- it is always a safe bet for me. Frozen mango has been a good go to as well. I don't really miss alcohol, but I do miss sushi. I am also a little sad that I am not suppose to eat brie cheese this holiday. I have probably been eating a little too well this holiday though, so I can probably go without the brie.
Zane has been such a good husband. I haven't been the most fun person these last few weeks. I am trying to stay active, but a cold front came in and exercising outside does not sound fun. I continue to go to my Xtend barre classes (a mix between ballet and pilates), and I think that has helped. He hasn't complained once about me being a bit whiney and repetitive.

This really does happen to people!

We're pregnant!

Zane and I knew this could happen, probably would happen, but for some reason I felt pretty certain it wasn't going to happen yet. That just seems to be how things work out sometimes. It came to us as a pretty big shock when our little digital pregnancy test came back with the words "pregnant". This really does happen to people (duh), and this just happened to us!

Besides worrying about the due date conflicting with the wedding of the year (my brother's which is very close to our due date), Zane and I are very excited.... and scared... but mainly excited. We found out at 5:00 am on a Wednesday morning. Zane had to rush off to early training at work, and I was flying to Sacramento later that day where I would have a really difficult time keeping my very new news a secret for four days with my grandmother Shirley, Aunt Teri, and my cousin Michelle. You would not believe the amount of times babies came up in conversation! I have posted a picture of a face I made that I feel somewhat reflects the shock Zane and had that morning. I sent it to Zane at work while I was sitting at our counter trying to have a normal breakfast.

We are not telling our friends or family yet. I am writing the blog now (Nov. 3, 2013) and will make the whole blog public after Christmas. It is going to be torture waiting that long, but we really want to tell our secret at Christmas. I don't know how we will keep it a secret through Thanksgiving and visits with my parents before Christmas, but we should be nearing the end of the first trimester then, and it will be a safer time to release the news. I am hoping the holiday season will keep me busy and my mind off of it. It has already been the longest week and a half of my life! We have our first prenatal appointment 11/25/13. That seems so far away!

We figure I am most likely between 5-6 weeks along now. We took the first side picture and will post that here as well. I am excited and freaked out at the same time to see my belly grow in the future. Of course I still look normal now. I have had some mild nausea, but so far these last few days have been easy. I hope it stays that way for the 32+ weeks to come.

Thank you for reading along with us! We really can't wait to tell everyone!
